Cemlatex 2K Waterproofing Membrane
A polymer modified, semi flexible cementitious waterproofing membrane.
Surface preparation
The surface should be clean and sound, free of dust, loose particles, grease, oil, primers from previous membrane systems and bitumen. Bitumen or primers should be removed by shot blasting or mechanical means. Spalled concrete should be repaired by cutting back to sound concrete and patching with Quickset CEMTEC Plaster.
Critical areas
Use CEMTEC tape at all critical areas such as intersections, corner joints, floor/wall junctions, gaps and around pipelines before applying Cemlatex 2K. Before fixing the tape, fill and level the gaps and corners with polymer modified Quickset CEMTEC Plaster.
Mixing
Cemlatex 2K is supplied in pre-measured units. Slowly add the powder to the liquid in the ratio 2:1 and mix with a slow speed drill fitted with a paddle to a lump-free, smooth consistency. Do not rework a stiffened mix by adding more water, and only mix as much as can be used within 30–40 minutes.
Application
Saturate the concrete surface with clean water. Apply the first coat while the surface is still damp with no free standing water, using a short stiff bristle brush or roller at a minimum thickness of 1 mm per coat. After 2–6 hours, apply the second coat perpendicular to the first; it can be finished by rubbing down with a smooth sponge. Spray or trowel application is acceptable if the mixing ratio is adjusted for the right consistency. Over hollow blocks or highly porous areas, apply at least 3 coats to a total thickness of 3 mm.
